TORQUE auditions for vocalist

Hello,

Using Logic Pro 9 makes life so much better than any other software you could possibly use.  Of course I am an Apple fan.  I have 3 iMac G5s and an apple Mac Book.  We use iPhones, iPods, iTunes, iWeb

I just about everything.  Back to the point.  We are auditioning for a new front man for TORQUE.  The man must have a balls sound to be able to sing for a band with a name like TORQUE.   All about power right.  Well since I own my studio and all the music, it makes it easy to just remove the old vocal track.  Send you to be candidates home with the music we have over the last 3 years and see what they come up with.  When they are ready to try out, I have them lay the vocal track.  Then I present the whole set of "would be candidates for front man to the band".  We then know how the record would sound with this person.  Next we try them out with the band, then book some shows and see how he handles a TORQUE audience.  See also how he/she handles the road.  We will do over 100 shows a year so they need to be pretty tough.  Lots of driving not much hotel of living time.

I will keep you posted on the progress.

If you would like to Audition or Just get the Traina Studios News Letter (Click Here)

You need to record your next Record.  You can't get anywhere without good songs recorded just right.

Recording Input, Audio Mastering, Mixing Studios: Tool Tribute Band Schism with my band TORQUE

Recording Input, Audio Mastering, Mixing Studios: Tool Tribute Band Schism with my band TORQUE

Tool Tribute Band Schism with my band TORQUE

Two shows this weekend.

HammerJacks in St. Joseph Mo.  Friday Night.
The Blue Goat in Salina Saturday Night.

Back to Wichita Sunday Morning.  I love playing live.  The Fans in Salina are the best anywhere.  They love live music in Salina.  We have played there with Soulfly, Prong, Seasons After, HellGoat, Hemlock, ZeroFixx, Motley Too and a few other bands.  They know all our songs and party with us until at least 2 AM.
Come and rock with us.  Gonna be fun.

New Beatz today

Good morning.  I must say, I have had a few rough days lately but it all still melts away when I get behind my drum set.  I was practicing up because this weekend we have 2 shows with a TOOL tribute band called Schism.  I have found the older I get, the easier it is to lose the accuracy during live performance if you don't practice enough.

Anyway I was messing around with an old blues beat and came with a cool new one.  I think just from the beat I came with the whole structure .  Key changes and all.  I will try it on the band Friday morning on the road to missouri to play the first show in St Joseph at Hammerjacks.  I love to play live and I love the road.  It is great to have a studio where I can record every practice session and come with new styles.

Another nice feature I have added about 2 years ago is drumagog.  If you have not tried it, check it out.  It is an outstanding plug in that works in Logic.

Have a great dayl
Peace.

Why are you in the music business?

One of the Hardest business adventures to make money in.  The Musc Business.
Why are you in the music business?  Is it because you always wanted to play an instrument?  Is it because you thought being a rock star looked like a cool life?  Is it because you want to travel the world?

Like many other things people do, maybe you don't know why you play music in local clubs until 2am.  Why you drive in a car for 20 hours to a bar where you play for 30 minites. Why you recorded a demo record.  Why you had to have T-shirts made with your band logo on them.  Why for months you are on the road from one town to the next and have no money, no place to live.  You have not had a shower in a week.  All seems crazy doesn't it.

Some of us crazy people would not trade it for any other job out there.  We know it is just what we are supposed to be doing.

Now this has nothing to do with actually planning and seeking to earn a living playing music.  Hundreds of great musicians I have worked with, haven't a clue how to manage a check book, create a business case or many other things it takes to turn music into a career.

That is, in part, why I started Traina Studios.  The first starving artist I ever met was my dad.  Him and many of my other music partners have died way too soon in this crazy world we call THE MUSIC BUSINESS.

I am almost 48 years old.  Still there is nothing other than being in the music business that I want to do.  I love recording music, playing live, and a hundred other reasons that music is my life.

Until a few years ago, I did not think a career in music was possible.  You needed some 'Lucky Break' or had to know someone in the business for that to happen.

Times are changing.  We have to change with them.

If music is you passion and you would like to work with a team that truly care about music and the musicians who play it.  Come to my recording studio and lets talk.  I want to help you succeed.  Unfortunately you must want to succeed at it also.

Dreams don't become reality without hard work and dedication.

Recording, Mixing and Mastering your next CD is a good place to start.  Next a business plan and a million other things I can think of but one step at a time.

If you have a song that you want to capture and you think it is the greatest song you have ever heard.  Bring it to us.  We will make it even better.

We are all about one thing.  Making good songs.  Focus on that before you focus on being MR Rock Star.

The Music Industry and Recording Input

I have lived for the feeling of music.  All the emotions that it brings out when performed and the recording input is right.

The basics, like anything you achieve in is important.  I think a lot of people get caught up in the rock star part of the music business and forget to write good songs.  Not just one, every song has to have a power to move you, take you to a place.  Make you feel what the artists were feeling.  Those types of songs are special.

That, my friends is what recording input is all about.  We have all the right tools here also.  A perfect dead live room.  We left the bottom 2 feet for some, not much bass response.  A large control room with a big window for cues.  Traina Studios is not a big studio with a million things going on.  It is one band at a time.  Complete focus on one thing.  The songs.  One at a time.  Now a specific band might come in with 20 to 30 of them.  That is alright with me.  When the studio is not booked, I am constantly recording more drum tracks.  Inventing new beats to fit with a new style I like to call Blues/ Metal.

I spent every dime I have to live a dream since child hood to own my own studio.  I just don't grow tired of good songs.  I still love the thrill of writing new ones every day.

My point today is.  I have started a lot of songs with the initial input wrong and try to fix it.  People waste so much time there.  Lay the foundation right first.  It takes good recording input to make good songs.  It takes tallent to make good ones.  It takes someone special and a great support team to make great ones.

I can't wait for the day to be a part of the great ones. Input Mastering, Input Mixing, Recording input.

Got a guitar track in your head?  A great bass lick.  I love nothing more than putting drums on it.  Hard to explain, I have worked with quite a few musicians now.  I hear it different than most.  Send it to me.  You will see.

Welcome to the newest Traina Studios Blog.  This one will not have structure.  This blog is about what I love about music.  It's about how it makes me feel.  Give me any feedback you like.  I just enjoy writing about drums, recording in the studio, playing live with TORQUE, working a single song for sometimes months until everyone is sick of me.  Finishing the next one the first time through.

Crazy things in my head are all about beatz.
